Herring-Cashwell-Alderman, North Carolina

In "Aldermans in America" information is given that Mary Cashwell, who married John Alderman in 1770, in Duplin Co., NC, was the half-sister of William Herring, who married Phoebe Newton.

Does anyone have any information about the parents of William Herring and Mary Cashwell?

Any help in identifying their mother, who, apparently, was married to both a Cashwell and a Herring, would be most appreciated.

Janice Newton Thurmond, Marietta, GA
