I have seen others who say that John was the father of William. I believe that William is closely related to the NC Herrin's (those with longer roots in NC). William came to Orange CO., NC where he was with the family of Edward Herrin. Likewise, he was with their family in and around Wilks Co. In Shelby CO., KY 1800-1820 his family was with the NC Herrings. Also, the same can be said for the same closeness in 1850s Calloway Co., MO. Those NC Herrings are my line, descendents of Edward, Moses, Ephraim, John, William Elisha and Issac Herrin, many of whom fought on the SC Line.
