Hi,
I am wondering if any of you researchers can help me out again. I am still trying to find my mother's family line and I think I have run across something that might offer some new clues.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI 1880
There are some Herring spelled families. However, 4 houses away from one of them is a family who spells their name on the census as Hearing. Then I found several others with the Hearing spelling. I think the problem with finding my line is that we may not be Hearing but Herring.
Does anyone know about these families:
Lexy Hearing age 43
George 21 Richard age 20 Marcus age 13
Henry age 11 Francis age 9 and Mary age 4
Martha age 26 Roni age 2 and Cherry age 4 mon
App age 28 Fannie age 27 Hannah age 4 and Helen age 2
WA age 26 Martha age 23 and Enoch age 1
Dan age 23 Laura age 22 Alex age 2 and Edward age 5m
now to Clark Co. Arkansas
In 1860, there is a young couple listed as James and Martha Herring
In 1870, there is a woman named Martha Herring ten years too old to be the Martha of 1860 who has a house full of children. Myt notes are temporarily misplaced so that I can't list the names of the children... but does anyone know who these two families are?
Both families are listed on the census as being from Mississippi and if they are, are they connected to the Montgomery families listed above?
