Re Mae Herrero California
My name is Ernesto Cortez, and I'm writing in response to Mae Herrero's message regarding her Herrero ancestors from the Philippines. My ancestor, Antonio Herrero , was a Spanish civil servant from Sta. Maria de la Nueva , Segovia , Spain. He was sent to the Philippines to oversee the Spanish government's tobacco monopoly in 1865 ( ? ). He settled somewhere in the northern part of the island of Luzon in the Philippines, specifically, in Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela where he later married a native Filipina whose surname was Guadang ( not sure ). They had 3 children namely, Magdalena ( 7 children ), Domingo, ( 14 children ), and Pepa ( 2 children ? ). Magdalena was my grandmother. Out of Grandpa Domingo's 14 children, I only know of Dinah Herrero, Carmen Herrero, and Dr. Alering Herrero. Domingo's wife was Juanita Gaza. Pepa Herrero married Manuel Crespo, and they had 2 children, Manolita and Pilar. Manuel Crespo died young, so Grandma Pepa remarried to an Alonzo, and they had a child , Nena Alonzo.
There is then a possibility that your ancestor came from Grandpa Domingo's side of the family since I only know of 4 children out of 14.
