Hi Anne,
My Herr family arrived in the Peterborough area in 1830-31. They settled first in Douro Township and later moved to Asphodel Township. Both of these locations are within
20 miles of Peterborough. John Herr and Margaret Mary Collins had at least 3 sons born in Ireland, Michael, John and William. John was my great-great grandfather. I do not know where they came from in Ireland. Could John Sr. and James have been brothers??
Bridget Herr and Laurence Driscoll were married March 5/1851 , St. Peter's, Peterborough. Info from Parish records - Kara - Reel #1304800. Witnesses were Thomas Murphy and Jean Olan.
I found a will, Provincial Archives in Toronto #11450 dated 1 Nov 1867, Catherine Herr.
Per map in "Lillies and Shamrocks", history of Emily Township, the Widow Herr lived in Emily Township. She was a ratepayer in 1867 SW 1/2 Lot 21 Con 6.
Mary Scanlon was the daughter of Michael Scanlon and Catherine Pott.
I live in Ennismore, is there any chance that you would have any information on the Herr family. I have not been able to link John and James Herr.
