Hello Mercedes
My name is Mike Herr, I live near Peterborough, Ontario. I have been researching my branch of the Herr Family. John Herr and Margaret Mary Collins emigrated to Canada from Ireland and settled in Douro Township, near Peterborough in 1832. They may have been in North America earlier. They had at least two sons born in Ireland, John and William. Both John and William relocated to neighbouring Asphodel Township in 1844, and remained there the rest of their lives. Family hearsay is that this family of Herr's came from Limerick, Ireland, not yet proven by myself. I wonder if you have any information on siblings of the Ellen Herr in your posting. I have much evidence to suggest that there was also a son Michael, born in Ireland. John Herr Sr. was born in 1791 and his wife Margaret about 1801.
I have an extensive family tree of the Herr's in Canada. I have also been researching my wife's family, Corneil, they were Palatines. In one book I read, listing Palatine families, there was mention of a John Her. Have no further information on the Palatine Her family.
