Fidel Herr, 1784 - 1862, Aichern Baden & Nankin Twp, Wayne Co, MI
Am looking for a professional genealogist, or someone else who can help me find my "Herr" Baden geographic roots.
My ancestor, Fidel Herr, Sr, also Fidelis Herer, was baptised at Katholisch, Schnetzchhausen, Donaukreis, Wuertemburg April 10, 1784.
His son, Fidel Herr, Jr.was baptised in Katholisch, Huerrlingen, Waldschush, Baden May 1, 1812.
Fidel Sr. married M. Anna Schmidin at Katholisch, Achern, Baden August 10, 1801, and Mary Anna Hauler or Houser, Katholisch Huerrlingen Waldschut Baden, February 18, 1819.
He wrote music and was an artist indicating he was an educated person - I have sheet music in my possession dated 1814, and signed "Von Aifern."
He left Baden for allegedly "religious reasons," was a Catholic, and possibly a bourgemeister, and had enough money to book passage for a family of seven, sailing on
the General Hamilton, arriving NY October 25, 1831 with wife, Mary, Marianna 4, Barbara 7, Theresa 18, Johanna 21, and son Fidell, 19. Both he and son Fidel were listed as "mechanics."
Fidel settled in Nankin Twp, Wayne Co, MI October 21, 1832 the date his 40 acre farm was registered.
He was registered in the 1840 -1850 - 1860 Federal Census, Nankin Twp, Wayne Co, MI.
He died in Nankin November 8, 1862, survived by his wife Mary Ann and most of his children including namesake Fidel Herr Jr, who is my line of descendancy, followed by William Herr, Fred Fidel Herr, and my mother Helen Sabine Herr.
I am planning a Baden trip for September, 2004 - would like to visit my Herr ancestors' birthplaces, home cities, etc...
Also, I'd like to take old Fidel's roots back to maybe Hugo the Herr, or Von Bilfried, 10th Century,Teutonic knight and Swabian feudal lord. Also, the family member renouncing royal position in the 13th Century, if all that is possible and practical.
Please contact me by email [email protected] if you can help.
Thanks!
