Herods & Cope connection in Smith Co. TN

I am trying to trace through my grandparent's line to the Herods & Copes in Smith Co. around the mid-1800s. I have a disconnect from Bedford and Louisa Herod to the previous generations. My dad says he believes Bedford married sisters (one after the other died) but Louisa is the only name he knew and he thinks the maiden name was Cope. Does anyone have any information on them?
