Ehren,
Though I know nothing of your direct descendents, my maiden name was also Hernan(spelled exactly this way). My father, Leland Vincent Hernan, became friends with some of his cousins that I believe lived in or near Peoria. We are from Mason City, IL(halfway between Peoria and Springfield). I know that there are not very many Hernans left in the states. I have been hunting for anyone who knows about Michael and Kate Nelling Hernan, my great grandparents. My grandparents are Guy Leslie and Mildred Swaar Hernan. If you know anything, please write back. I do think that the cousin my father visited called himself Gene.
