If you really want to know who your own ancestors are, you can't assume that what you read on the internet is correct. For instance: 1. The name of the wife of the William Herndon who claimed land with Robert Bagby in 1673 is unknown. Whoever she was (if indeed he had a wife), she was not the daughter of Gov. Edward Digges. 2. The name of the wife of Edward Herndon who appeared in Virginia records in the early 18th century is unknown. She may have been a Leftwich. Whoever she was, she was not Mary Waller b. 1674 d. 1676, daughter of Dr John Waller of Newport Pagnell. 3. It is not known whether Edward Herndon was a son of William Herndon. Et cetera. The only way to be sure you have the right ancestors is to start with your own grandparents and work back generation by generation, making sure you have proof of every link in the chain. Good luck.
