This sounds a little familiar: I have never been able to find any information on my grandmother's roots My maternal grandmother. (Emilia Avalos Hernandez Gonzales)was born and raised in the Brady, Texas area. She was very young when I believe her parents split (I believe in those days they didn't normally divorce) The story is that her mother Juanita Avalos Hernandez left with the younger children (I believe their names were Pedro, Marine and Guadalupe). Her father attempted to raise her while he worked with the railroad, sometimes he would take her with him to work. He soon became ill and could no longer care for her. He left her with a family that he thought she would do well with. This family also had children. I do not know their name. My grandmother remembered very little about her childhood, except that she was very sad. She performed alot of labor as a young child. There was one sibling in this second family that was particularily kind to her. The name Tiburcio or Tiburcia was mentioned amongst the adults as a relative. In those days adults rarely spoke to their children about certain things they considered that their children didn't need to know. They were kind of secretive, I guess.

My maternal grandmother's name is Juanita Avalos Hernandez. She married Pedro Hernandez. They lived in the Brady, Texas area around 1890 - 1901. They had I believe 4 children; the oldest was my grandmother Emilia Avalos Hernandez. The younger 3 children were male. I believe there names might have been Pedro, Marine and Guadalupe
