Gary, Did you find the information you wanted about Andrew Herd? I am interested in the Herd family because of all their connection to my own: Jesse Herd md. Nancy Flannery (my great aunt), Thomas Flannery md. Lucy Searcy. This afternoon I posted an old letter I got from Evelyn Miller who was doing Herd research in the 1970s on myfamily site. I know ther was always a claim that Andrew had 21 children. Evelyn, I think listed 17. Also, there is some confusion about where Andrew is buried. If he is in the Richmond Cemetery he does not have a marker. I can not accept that. He was in the Union Army...and I am sure his children would have applied for a marker for him..
Anyway, this afternoon I caught something I had never seen before...In the 1880 Census a William Herd was living with Thomas and Nancy Flannery. He was 11. Two houses away, in a Jennings household there was a young woman whose name was Rebecca Herd and a young child whose name was Levi? Was this Rebecca the widow of one of the missing Herd children, or was she a Herd by birth.
