Dear David,
Hi. I am looking for the following family that appears in the 1871 census living at 7 Hardisty's Yard, West Street, Leeds:
HEPPINSTALL Fergus 50 journeyman pork butcher, born Huddersfield
HEPPINSTALL Mary (c or e) 50 born Aberford
(also living with them was a George H. either Heppinstall or Glen age 4, a nephew, born Leeds)
My interest is in the family name GLEW from Aberford. My ancestors (James GLEW and Margaret GILLIGAN) where living at the above address in 1872 when they married. He gave his occupation as butcher. When i looked at the 1881 census, i see that the name is spelt Heppenstall, and Mary is widowed, and George H. Glen is still living with her. I am hoping that the two families are connected, and that Glen is a transcription error for Glew.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Katharine Kennedy.
