Hepenstall Family Genealogy Forum

My name is Ciaran Hepenstall Daly from Dublin Ireland. The original Hepenstall family (with one P )originated from Co. Wicklow Ireland. The family changed its name from Hempenstall after the infamous evil hangman of Co. Wicklow who relished his job was called Hempenstall. So a fraction of the family from Redcross Co. Wicklow dropped the "M" from the name and tried to continue on with anominity. My Fathers Mother was Victoria Hepenstall from Redcross and she married my grandfather William Daly. She was a Church of Ireland prodestant and she was disowned by the family for marrying a Catholic. The rest of her siblings remained Prodestant but all have since died and there are no know Hepenstalls left in Dublin but I beleive there is one family left in Co. Cork. All the Hepenstalls who were Prodestant found themselves in a minority community and with intermarrying they produced very few desendants and my grandmothers sisters never married. They all lived into there 90's without the need for eyeglasses except for my grandmother who died at 98 in C.1975 who was blind when she died. She was reunited with her siblings in later life after her parents had passed away and they all spent there last years in Dublin. My Fathers only cousins who where from his Mothers Brothers marriage where Hepenstalls and I met them often before they died in there 80's with alas no children. They were the last know Hepenstalls born in Ireland.
I will ask my Father to write an essay and post it here in the near future.
Regards
Ciaran.
