Hi,
I have been working on Capt. Francis Frasers' genealogy in the hopes of connecting him to my line of Frasers from Kings County.
I was recently in Halifax and located a Deed transfering ownership of Seven Hundred Acres in Parrsboro from George & Dorathy Chipman to Charles Fraser. The interesting thing about this deed is that Dorathy Chipman was the late wife of Captain Francis Fraser.
An excerpt:
Whereas the aforsaid Dorathy was as being the late wife of Captain Francis Fraser late of Parrsboro Deceased intitled to her thirds or right of Dower of in and unto the Estate of her late husband the aforsaid Francis particularly a lot of land situate lying and being in the Township of Parrsborough aforsaid being Number four in Letter D containing an estimation about seven hundred acres. This indenture witnesseth that the said George Chipman and Dorathy hes wife, have for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds currency to them in hand paid by the said Charles Fraser the receit whereof is hereby by them and each of them acknowledged and do by these presents fully freely and voluntarily release and forever quit claim to any right of dower on title of thirds to which said Dorathy was is or stands intitled whither in law or equity to or out of the estate of the said Captain Fraser.
I am now wondering if Dorathy "Chipman" was perhaps nee Henwood?
I also have probate papers regarding Capt. Francis Frasers death. The court documents claim that Francis died "intestate" meaning that there was no will.John Fraser Esq. was appointed Administrator. and there is list of inventory, chattles, and goods of the estate of Francis. These papers are dated 1792.
I would like to exchange information with any researching this line.
