Dear HENTHORN group,
I have not found any new information about the family of M. & Elizabeth GRENNAN HENTHORNE of NYC circa 1860 or ????
Elizabeth GRENNAN was born in West Meath, IRELAND and came to America about 1848/50 ..... one of five children in the family of John GRENNAN. John and family lived in Manhattan in 1855. All the family lore that I have is that Elizabeth married M. HENTHORNE and had at least 4 children ....
1.Elizabeth "Lizzie" HENTHORNE
It was not known who the daughters married?
Elizabeth GRENNAN HENTHORNE had 2 sisters and 2 brothers.....
1...Mary GRENNAN b.abt 1833 IRELAND who became Sister Mary of St.Catherine [a Good Shepherd Nun] and died in 1878.
2...Catherine GRENNAN who became Sister Mary Celestine of the Sisters of St.Joseph, an order that taught the deaf.
3...Lawrence GRENNAN ?? who worked as a longshoresman.
4...John GRENNAN b.abt 1842 IRELAND married Matilda BLANK abt 1862 at St. Alphonsus Church on Thompson Street in NYC.
