Margaret 'Colleen' Peters, 70, of Kingsport, Sullivan
Co TN, went to be with her Lord early Friday morning,
December 11, 2009, at home surrounded by her loved ones
following an extended illness.
Colleen was born in Scott County, VA, and retired from the
Kingsport City Schools. She was a devoted and loving wife,
mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Peters
was a life long member of Calvary's Way Independent Baptist
Church and was known for her close relationship to her
Lord.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her
parents, Albert and Ruth Hensley; sisters, Geraldine
Begley and Kay Patrick; and a brother, Bill Hensley.
Colleen Peters is survived by by her soul mate of 53
years, Charlie D. Peters; her daughters, Terri Vermillion,
Kingsport, TN, and Cathy Peters, Dunlap, TN; grandchildren,
Chad Robinson and wife Heather, Leeanna McKinley, both of
Kingsport, TN, Josh Lifford and wife Nicole of Rockwood,
TN, Ashley Faulkner of Morristown, TN; five great grand-
children; her sisters, Janice Peters and husband Joe of
Kingsport, TN, Diann Black and husband James, Brenda
Taylor and husband Donnie, Judy Hinkle and husband Gary of
Hiltons, VA, Gert Salyers and husband Joe, all of Kingsport,
TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks goes out to Dr. Boyd, Lincare, Dr. Emory
and the staff of Smoky Mountain Home Health & Hospice.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009,
from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Scott County Funeral Home, or
friends may also call anytime at the residence.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December
14, 2009, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor
Johnny Gibson and Pastor Joseph M. Peters officiating.
Music will be provided by the Browders.
A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, December
15, 2009, at Peters Family Cemetery, with Darren Peters,
Issac Peters, Marion Peters, Lynn Combs, Jeremy Combs,
Justin Black, and Jim Jones serving as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peters Family
Cemetery, c/o Donnie Taylor, 139 Cannonball Drive, Hiltons,
VA 24258.
