Willie Hensley, 76, Duffield, VA, passed away on Friday,
November 30, 2007, at Holston Valley Medical Center,
Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN.
He was born January 23, 1931 in Letcher Co Ky, and was the
son of the late Byrd Hensley and Carrie Dixon Hensley
Lewis.He was also preceded in death by his first wife,
Hazel McDavid Hensley, and grandson, Mark Hensley; a
brother-like friend, Walter Ray Spivey.
He was a paratrooper with the U.S. Army and a retired coal
miner with Westmoreland Coal Company.He attended Hills
Chapel Church.He loved to fish and camp, watch Western
(John Wayne) movies, and travel.And he truly loved his
family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Hensley, of the home;
sons, Richard Lynn (Jo Nell) Hensley, Duffield, VA, Roger
Lee (Karen) Hensley, Duffield, VA, and Jeffery Allen
(Connie) Hensley, Duffield, VA; step-son, Carl L. (Teresa)
Cobb, Jr., Duffield, VA; step-daughters, Joanna L. Qualls,
Duffield, VA, and Tersa (Larry 'Peanut') McKinney, Duffield,
VA; half-brother, Leon (Frances) Hensley, Severville, TN;
half-sister, Shirley Cowan, Bristol; grandchildren, Michael,
Brian, Anthony, and Matthew Hensley of Duffield, VA,
Derrick Hensley, Gray, TN, and Victoria Hartley, Raleigh,
NC; step-grandchildren, Tabitha Berry, Rusty Qualls,
Justin Qualls, Stephanie Cobb, Samantha Cobb, and Mary
Ruth Cantrell, all of Duffield, VA; great grandchildren,
Brady, Cory, Jaxon, Shaylee, Cadence, Carrie, and Elijah
Hensley, all of Duffield, VA; step-great grandchildren,
Brennen Berry, Ashlynn Berry and Sidney Morgan Gilliam;
several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007
at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA, and anytime at
the home. Funeral services will be conducted in the Funeral
Home Chapel at 7 p.m. withy the Rev. Roger Herron, Rev.
Joe Roberts and Rev. Joe Hill officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the
American Legion Post #3/265 at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 4,
2007, at the McDavid Cemetery in the Bishoptown community
of Rye Cove, VA.
Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be J. P. Hill, Joe McDavid,
David Barney, Doug Parker, Jeryl Robinson and Donald
McDavid.
