Donald Henry, 83, of Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, passed
away on September 16, 2012, at Holston Valley Medical
Center, in Kingsport.
He was born in Bristol, TN, a son to the late Jessie
Alonzo Henry, Sr. and Mae Selma Smeltzer Henry.
Mr. Henry was a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities area
and was a retired supervisor with United Inter-Mountain
Telephone Company. Donald was a member of Central
Christian Church of Bristol, TN, and a former president of
the Bloomingdale Ruritan. He was the pianist for the
Highland Quintet Jazz Band for many years.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jessie Alonzo
Henry, Jr, and Harold Henry; and sister, Evelyn Sue Lane.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Ruth Bouton
Henry; children, Deborah Jean Chappell and husband James
Robert Chappell, Jr., and Donna Ruth Fee and husband
Howard Kenneth Fee, Jr; grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Reeder
and husband Kurt Matthew Reeder, James Robert Chappell,
III and wife Melanie Wilcox Chappell, John David Patrick,
and Charlie Burns Davenport, III and wife Deborah Lively
Davenport; great grandchildren, Emily Anne Chappell,
Jonathan Thomas Chappell, Madeline Mae Chappell, Abigail
Lynn Chappell, Neyland Jacob Davenport, and Connor Dean
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 6 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.,
prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 21,
2012, at 8 p.m., in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with
Pastor John White officiating.
A procession will leave Weaver Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m.,
on Saturday, September 22, 2012, going to the Glenwood
Mausoleum for committal services. Pallbearers include,
James Robert Chappell, III, Deborah Lynn Reeder, John
David Patrick, Charlie Burns Davenport, III, Neyland Jacob
Davenport, Connor Dean Davenport, and Alex Beverly.
