Charlotte Henry was the daughter of Loftis P. Henry and Susan Jones.

Loftis P. Henry is the only child known to have been born to Hugh Henry and Martha "Patsy" Pullin.

Hugh Henry was the son of Henry Henry and wife Mary. Henry Henry was born in Ireland, probably in County Londonderry, in 1727. He fought in the French and Indian Wars in PA and on a Shannon's "Roul" (Roll/roster) giving his age and place of birth. He came to the part of Augusta Co. VA that later became Rockingham Co. VA. It is where Mt. Clinton (hamlet) is in Rockingham Co. VA today.

We have three male Henrys who descend from Henry Henry who have tested in our Henry Surname DNA Project. I started the Henry project because I was helping one of them in his research!

You will see many of my posts on this family on this very genforum.

Loftis P.Henry's wife Susan Jones was the daughter of John Jones and Anna (Lamon/Layman/varied spellings) of Sevier Co. TN, just across the river from where Loftis P. and Susan lived.

Susan had a sister Anna Jones who married a grandson of Henry Henry and Mary also. Anna Jones married David Henry, the son of William Henry and his first wife Agnes Allison, whom he married in 1791 in Greene Co. TN. Of course, this was before Jefferson Co. TN was created out of Greene Co.

Hugh and William also had a brother John Henry and his wife Jane (Robertson) who came to Jefferson Co. TN. John was a Revolutionary War soldier out of Rockingham Co. VA and he drew his pension in Jefferson Co. TN.

Hugh, William, and John Henry had a sister who came with her husband Peter McKinley to Jefferson Co. TN. After a few years, they sold there land in Jefferson Co TN and moved across the French Broad to live in the Jones Chapel area of Sevier County, TN. Ann McKinley is a widow in Sevier Co. TN in 1830.

Charlotte is mentioned in different church records in Jefferson and Sevier Counties. TN. Susan Jones Henry and Anna Jones Henry had a brother, the Rev. Lamon Jones who was a minister. They usually were members of whatever Baptist Church that he was serving. I will share those notes with you at a later date.

In the children of Pleasant M. Clendendon/Clendenden/various spellings, you will see their heritage in their given names:

Susan, for Charlotte's mother, Susan Jones Henry
John (I assume named for the Clendendons)
Hugh J. (named for his grandfather Hugh Henry)
George Simpson Henry (named for the Clendendons?)
James Henry Clendendon (Loftis P. Henry had an uncle James Henry in Rockingham Co. VA)
Lee Clendendon (not named for the Henrys)
David H. Clendendon (named for Loftis P.'s first cousin, David Henry, son of William Henry and Agnes (Allison))
Martha Clendendon (named for Loftis P.'s mother)
Sallie A. Clendendon (not sure for whom she was named)
Milton W. Clendendon (not sure for whom he was named)
