Hi: I am researching the McFadden side. The son of Gertrude and James McFadden, Moses, died in 1919 and his death certificate (British Columbia) identifies Gertrude Hinyan as his mother, James McFadden as his father. Spelling of her name has been a question mark in all of the notes I have found from family sources. The 1921 Annual Report of the Ontario Land Surveyors, has a bio of Moses McFadden and it states: "His parents were James McFadden, an Irish veteran of the Peninsular War and Gertrude Hunter, nee Henion, a U.E Loyalist. There were four sons in the family, William, Hiram, Uriah, and Moses and several half brothers and sisters of the Hunter family." This bio was provided to the Land Surveyors by the granddaughter of Moses McFadden.
I am just starting to find more details about James and Gertrude and their life in Kemptville, Ontario. I do not have her date of death, or where she is buried. Hopefully soon, which would help confirm your info.
