I just noticed your February 2006 posting to genweb re: Andrew Henning b1850 in Germany, and d 1931 in Adrian.
I am wondering if my husband's family is related, as they lived in and around Adrian for many years, and many of the names of Andrew's descendants are the same as those of my husband's family. However, I suppose these were fairly common German names at that time.
My husband's great great grandfather was named Carl Henning. Based on what family members told me, I think I may have found them on a ship coming to the U.S. on the SS Sparndamn from Rotterdam, arriving June 14, 1893, and it seems to fit with the information told to me about this family.
This passenger list includes:
Carl Henning, 48, male, occupation: mason; Country of Citizenship: Germany [same for the rest of the family]; intended destination: Adrian, Minn; whether citizens of the US: no;
Elisabeth Henning, age 40, female, wife
Anna Henning, age 24, female, servant
Maria Henning, age 17, female, servant
Catharina Henning, age 11, servant
Elisabeth Henning, age 7, female, child
Theresia Henning, age 5, female, child
Heinrich Henning, age 9, male, child
Carl Henning, age 11 months, male, child.
Anna Henning did marry in 1894 in Adrian, to Anton Schutz, and they had 9 children before she died in October 1911 soon after the birth of her 9th child.
Family members say that one of the children of the elder Carl Henning was named Joe Henning. He is not listed on this ship list, but I was told that he came to the U.S. earlier, before the rest of the family.
Is it possible that Andrew Henning is a brother or cousin of Carl Henning? Would like to know if you think these Henning's are related.
