Conclusive evidence in DNA Test reveals our branch of Hennigan that settled in Bieville Parish via Michael Hennigan and family were of German descent. Stephen Hennigan a descendant of Samuel(son of Michael and Amy)had DNA test for surname Hennigan and closest match of all submitters were descendants of Christain Henninger of Germany. He had 27 of 28 markers matched, which makes him a 6th to 12th cousin of Christain Henninger. Stephen was good enough to send me test results and also gave me permission to forward if any interested in receiving a copy. The firm doing the test also gives good geographical areas where this surname and kin exist that have submitted for test as well as all origins for the surnames migration. Hopefully more Hennigan and Henningers of all spellings will submit DNA to help figure our family realtionships.
