New Info in SC Henagan family

I recently received some new information regarding my Henagan line, as well as my Bridges line, and Stubbs/Conner line.

This information was handwritten by Mamie Crone Dandridge of Pulaski County, ARKANSAS. Mamie was the great-granddaughter of Benjamin Bridges Jr., and Mary Cival Henagan. She grew up near her great-aunt, Eliza Hightower Bridges Marguth, who left so much of the family history in interviews with the ARKANSAS GAZETTE and ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT. I am sure she heard this from her great aunt Eliza, but it is not in the interviews, just in Mamie's handwritten notes.

To surmise, Darby Henagan married Drucilla Sweeney. Drucilla died in 1812. Their children were Barnabas Kelet Henagan, John Henagan, Lucretia Henagan, Druscilla Henagan, Ephraim Lowndes Henagan, and Mary Cival Henagan.

New Information from the notes:

"Barnabas K. Hennigan (Henagan) was attending medical school when his father Darby H. died in 1817. His mother having died in 1812, he felt obligated to take charge of the family. He sent Mary Cival to Aunt Lucretia Sweeney Miles, a wealthy widow, with one son, Frank. Mary Civil (Cival) became the mother of Eliza Bridges. Druscilla, he sent to grandmother Sweeney's. Lucretia married a Mr. McCollum. They had two boys and two girls."

According to my research, Lucretia married Hugh McCallum (McCollum?) in 1825 in Blenheim, SC.

Druscilla married a Stubbs from Charleston, SC.

The Henagan and Bridges families very often used surnames as middle names; i.e., Ephraim Hennigan Bridges, Clinton Hennigan Bridges, John Williford Henagan (son of Ephraim Lowndes Henagan and Nancy McInnis). The person who transcribed the notes of Mamie Crone Dandridge told me that it appeared as though Mamie had written the name "Julius Conner Bridges" for one of the sons of Mary Henagan and Benjamin Bridges, Jr. Census records of 1850 and
1860 show "Julius C. Bridges." This would be more evidence that Benjamin's
mother, Rebecca Stubbs Bridges, was indeed the daughter of Rebecca Conner Stubbs. This line of Bridges has maintained this theory for over a hundred years. Leonardo Andrea, the genealogist, mentioned in his correspondence with a gentleman from Georgia that he found it very curious that the Stubbs mentioned no daughters. Two of the sons married Bridges girls.

I would appreciate any remarks.

Other families connected to Mamie Crone Dandridge, other than Bridges, Henagan, and Stubbs, are CRONE, HOGAN, DAVENPORT, DANDRIDGE. She gives a brief history of these families as they relate to her, and which all came together in the Little Rock, Arkansas, area between 1840-1900.

Thanks for listening, folks!

Mildred
