From Records of LA Confederate Soldiers, Volume III, Book 1, Page 179 "Hannigan, John C. , Private, Co. G, 31st La. Inf. En. May 6, 1862, Monroe, LA. Roll for Jan. and Feb. 1863, Present. Federal Rolls of Prisioners of War Captured Vicksburg Miss., July 4, 1863. Sent to Memphis, Temm. July 18, 1863. Transfered to Gratiot Militery Prison, St. Louis, Mo. July 26, 1863."
I have to go back and copy the next page(180) to get the rest. Will do that and let you know what else there is. Thanks once again for the information. This is my great great grandfather--no matter what he did to first family in Mississippi. I came from the second one of Joe Hennigan from the Natchitoches census. It was your clue that Sirena Coleman Hennigan was knicknamed "Polly" that put it together for me. The mother on the census record was Polly and she said that she was a widow. So I just saved the copy of the page I made in my files. Thanks a bunch. margie
