Hennigan Family Genealogy Forum

Dan i am fairly sure we come from the same branch of Hennigan. If memory and my research is correct, your John Thomas Hennigan was a son of Samuel Hennigan and Mary Ann Gore Hennigan. Samuel born 1811 in Mecklenberg NC to Michael Henninger/Hennigan and Amy Brumbelow. I can find nothing that traces this Hennigan family of these time frames back to Boston ,Ireland or Missouri. I can only trace them to the Carolinas in 1770's to 1820's where they lived as neighbors to many of the people they migrated with or intermarried, specifically our gggggrandmothers family Brumbelow. The name they use in NC is Henninger, Henegar, Hennrigan, and other various spellings. The two brothers i feel responsible for our particular branch of Hennigan are Dennis and Michael Henninger, sons of Michael Henninger and Anna Marie Pary Henninger of Baden Germany. The only other Hennigan clan i find in USA are immigrants during or shortly before the Potatoe Famine in Ireland, and earlier ones from Canada. Of course i have plenty of ancestors from Ireland, but cannot find any proof our namesake Hennigan is Irish. I also have many older kin who were told years ago their name was Irish and they migrated to USA through New Orleans during the famine in Ireland, but census records , land records, and petitions i have found in my research tell different.
