Hi,
Thanks for responding. My mother Doreen's birth mother was Winifred Henley who married a John Attrell in 1926. They lived in Brighton I believe. I will try to get a certificate for John A. Henley to see if his mother was also Winifred. I am most anxious to find out how long my Mom (and perhaps John) lived with Winifred or if she was given up as a baby. Would you know of any way to look this up?

Thanks for the info on Steyning. I thought it was a town but i see now that Mom could have actually been born in Hove or Portslade where she grew up on Abinger Road
Jeanne
