My Mom got this out so we could make copies for our family!!!This was my grandfather I never new.He adopted the three children.One was my mother, Elizabeth.Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

Mishap Fatal to Radio Man
Jay Wesley Henke, 33, New York and Hollywood radio announcer and actor, and son of Mrs. Minerva Henke, 147 N. Quebec Ave, died in a Rolla, Mo., hospital Monday night, shortly after being struck b y a hit-and-run driver east of Rolla.
Phelps County Coroner Claude Null of Jefferson City said Mr. Henke was enroute to Tulsa to visit his mother.He, his wife and three children had stopped overnight at a local tourist hotel, and were walking back to the hotel from a highway restaurant when a pick-up truck struck Mr. Henke.
Taken to a hospital, he died a few minutes later.He suffered a compound skull fracture, head lacerations and a fracture of the left leg, Null said.
Mr. Henke, who used the professional name of "Jay Wesley," started in radio work at Oklahoma university.He then was employed be KVOO as sports announcer, leaving in 1935 to go to WEEI, Boston.He spent eight years broadcasting for CBS in Boston, and later joined the Office of War Information in New York City for broadcasting.He appeared on Broadway in "Goodbye Again".When killed, he was en route to Hollywood to broadcast the Bob Hope summer show and was to stop in Tulsa to visit his mother.
Mr. Henke, as Jay Wesley, announced for the Bob Hope shows during the comedian's last tour.
He attended Conway Broun school, Tulsa Central high school and Tulsa University before going to Oklahoma University.He married the former Elizabeth Mason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert D. Mason.
Surviving also are the widow and three children.Jay Wesley Henke, Jr., Elizabeth and Mason Wesley Henke: a brother, Gordon Davis Henke, auditor for the Texas Co., with offices in Dallas, Texas; a sister Mildred Lee Dooley, and a nephew, Wesley Leon Dooley, Jr.
The widow is expected in Tulsa tonight.Funeral services probably will be held here, but arrangements will be announced.
