I am a descendant of John Henes. John Henes was born in Hohenzollern, Germany on January 6, 1852. He came to America at the age of 19 and traveled to Wisconsin where he farmed for some time and then obtained a job at a Milwaukee brewery. Later in life (1874) be moved to Menominee, MI to become a brewmaster at Gauel Brewery. John purchesd the Guael Brewery and another brewery with his father-in-law Jacob Leisen. The breweries then became "Leisen & Henes".

John Henes and Rosa Leisen had five children (that I am aware of)- Alred Henes, Emaline Caley, John E. Henes, Walter E. Henes, and Othmar H. Henes. Othmar Henes married and had two children, a boy, John Henes and Helene Henes, a girl.

Othmar is my great-grandfather and as you know, John Henes was his father. John Henes played a prominent roll in the community of Menominee and even dedicated a 43-acre wooded park on Green Bay to the city. Attached below are website links of the park, John Henes Park.

I was interested in finding Henes family decedents/members because this year we are celebrating the 100 Year Henes Family Reunion. There will be a ceremony and from what I understand I will be meeting many members I have never met. When I googled "Henes" I came across this site... although I do not know any of you, I'm hoping some of you may know some of the people I mentioned above or may be aware of the reunion. I look forward to hearing from you!
