This Ann McGillivray was daughter of Elizabeth Chapman (daughter of Rev James Chapman, Minister of Cromdale, ordained 1699, who in turn was son of Robert Chapman, merchant in Inverness) and Robert McGillivray, one of the Clan Chattan heros killed at the battle of Culloden. Ann inherited from her mother Elizabeth when she died, I think around 1800s; I haven't seen the documentary evidence but it does exist. I wonder whether Ann was taken as a child to the Isle of Man after her father's death and whether there was a large emigration there after Culloden (I think there were several McGillivrays - however spelt - on the island in latter part of 18th century. Are there any Hendry descendants? Would very much like to know more.
