Daniel Hendrick of Haverhill, Massachusetts is the immigrant ancestor for this family.Daniel is first found in the records of Hampton (now New Hampshire), in 1640, when he received a grant of land.
Daniel married Dorothy Pike about 1642 (there is no record of the marriage).Their third child was John, born 22 May 1648, in Haverhill and died in Newbury, Massachusetts, about 1692.He married Abigail Morse, about 1677. The children from this marriage included:
John, born 23 Oct 1678
A Daughter, born 16 Dec 1680
A Daughter, born 22 Jan 1681
Daniel, born 6 Feb 1684
William, born 15 March 1688
After John's death, the widow Abigail Hendrick married Moses Pengrey. Quoting from "The Hendrick Genealogy" by Charles T. Hendrick, page 37:
What became of them afterwards is unknown, unless they removed to one of the Carolinas.Moses Pengry made his will Dec 5, 1699, in which he said he "was bound for the Carolina, where his wife was then residing."
In 2005 I was contacted by Herbert Hendricks, Administrator of the Hendricks DNA Project.Herbert was seeking a second descendant of Daniel of Haverhill, with a well researched and documented lineage.A second participant was required to confirm the DNA sequence for Daniel of Haverhill. When my results were received the DNA sequence for Daniel of Haverhill was established.
At that time there were two Project participants from the Bulloch County Hendrix family, which includes James Hendrix. The DNA samples were a close 12 marker match to the Daniel of Haverhill DNA sequence.Additional testing revealed that the Bulloch Hendrix family was a branch of the Daniel of Haverhill Family. We now have three participants from the Bulloch County Hendrix Family.
Subsequent to the initial test, I submitted a DNA sample to a second Lab to confirm the results from Family Tree DNA.In this process, I learned from the second test that the Daniel of Haverhill Family has a very rare DNA marker (DYS392 = 10.2).Every member of the Daniel of Haverhill Family that has been tested share this rare marker. There is absolutely no question about the family relationship.
