My great grandparents were Hypaulet Royer b. in Lowell, VT, and Sophia Martell, born in Canada. They lived and died in Vermont (most likely Lowell). Some, if not all, of their children were born in Masonville, Quebec, Canada.
Sophia Martell is of Native ancestry. One of her daughters was my grandmother, Marie Royer, who married my grandfather Merl Brock. Marie & Merl Brock mostly lived in the Vermont area, but moved around a lot, and did also live in Framingham, Massachusetts for a while, as well. I believe they both died in Newport, VT.
My mother has told me she had relatives/cousins named Cote, a Jacques Cote who married either a Rose Martell (Sophia's sister) or Rose Royer (Hypaulet's sister) we are not sure of Rose's surname. I have also heard Jacques name as Joshua or Josh.
Jacques & Rose Cote had children: Frank, Marshall, Emma, Selina, Victoria, Anna.
Frank Cote married an Amelia ?.
Marshall Cote married a Rose ? .
Emma Cote married an Edward Proctor.
Selina Cote married (possibly) a cousin, who has the same last name as hers (Cote).
Victoria lived with a Matt Anno, his brother, and his father not sure of the spelling of "Anno", as I have seen it spelled differently on this message board).
As for Anna Cote - I don't know any more about her.
*Some of the Cote's lived in Ayer, Shirley, Fitchburg, and Leominster, Massachusetts areas.*
I was also told by a Royer cousin, that we have cousins of Native ancestry from Canada with the last name Henault. I don't know where they fit in. It must be through my great grandmother, Sophia Martell.
Sorry to write a book, but would like help trying to connect these folks to see where they all fit in. It is very confusing.
Any suggestions or help would be wonderful.
