Thanks for your msg. Do you, by chance, have anything to show when Hemstead was first settled? According to my record, my pioneer settler Captain Thomas Carle helped establing and served as warden of the first church in Hemstead, which served all faiths and later became Church of England. This would have been sometime after he arrived ca1655.
I have been told that some of the early Carle/Carll farm, family cemetery and the Platt/Carll Tavern on Jerico Turnpike (converted from earlier family home) are now NY State historic landmarks.
