Hi Simon: My Hemphills,from what I'm told, go back to near Galston,Ayrshire,and before that to Nottinghamshire England. My crowd went to co. Antrim N. Ireland from Ayrshire in the 1600's at the time of the plantation. Robbie, my third cousin, lives in Portstewart,co. Londonderry,near the Co. Antrim border. Yes, he has a broad Scottish accent.
