Elwin,

Thank you so much for this information. I plan on going to Ireland someday and this was very helpful to my trip planning. I was born in Griffin, GA where my mother, grandfather, and great-grandfather were born. I come from the line of Hemphills that settled in York County, South Carolina in the late 1700s to early 1800s. My ancestor, William Peyton Hemphill, moved to Spalding County, Georgia around 1880 from South Carolina. He was a Presbyterian circuit riding preacher as well as a member of Wheeler's Cavalry during the Civil War.

Do you know any details about the Hemphills that came from Ulster Province to South Carolina? My mother has more information about the Hemphills in Spalding County, GA.

I have an ancestry.com page if you search for Heidi Arvin. Feel free to look over the information that I have about the Hemphills there.

Thanks again!

Heidi
