I descend from Abraham Hempenstall's daughter Elizabeth who married James Wilson,
Doe Hill, VA.

In a book of Highland Co., records pg. 229 gives the following.

Abraham Hempinstall 1744-1836, Ensign Virginia Militia, Revolutionary War.
Note: The above moved from a grave site one mi., nw. on Mt. Pleasant. Are you aware of this record?

From a D.A.R. application for Judy Wilson Miklos, gives the following. "His (Abraham Hempenstall) grave at the Methodist Church Cemetary, in Doe Hill, Virginia is marked with a headstone erected by the D.A.R."

Judy also gives the following.
Abraham Hempenstall born 1740 in New Jersey,
died at Doe Hill, VA., on 1783

I believe she made many errors in her application, which was approved by the D.A.R. in 1986. Could Abe Hoptonstall have died at Doe Hill in 1783 and his will not be proved until August 1814 in Shelby Co., KY? Will lists brother Isaac Hoptonstall and my sister Eleanor Nap.

I also have copies of Judy's
correspondence with Katherine Bushman, Genealogist from Augusta Co., VA.

I would be interested in sharing information with others on this GenForum.
