Johan and Gustaf Hallstrom-Jansen-Johnson-IL,MN

Looking for any information on Gustaf's Swedish roots. He was married to Augusta in Henry County, IL in 1882. Also interested in August Flod, his wife.

BIOGRAPHY: Gustaf's family/father's name was Hallstrom. Gustaf's son David's baptismal certificate from 1885(written in Swedish) shows Gustaf's name as Gustaf Hallstrom. Since a bible presumably commemorating his birth shows his name as Johansson, it is not clear what the family name was when they entered the U.S. (I believe Gustaf came with his parent(s)) Gustaf was married to "Augusta Josefin Flod" as "Gustaf Halstrom" He purchased land in Minnesota under the name of Jansen, and was buried under the name of Johnson. The name change from Jansen to Johnson appears to have taken place between October and November 1901.

BIOGRAPHY: Gustaf's father was probably named Johan Hallstrom. By Swedish naming custom, that would make Gustaf's surname Johanson and would probably explain some of the confusion.
