Dear Linda, Here is part of the letter by Clarence Albert Hoffman to my Grandmother Gladys Helsel in 1971: My grandfather, Aaron Hoffman (1830-1897), whose father was John Hoffman, and whose grandfather was a Philip Hoffman carries the connection back far enough for our connection. Phillip had ll children, the 8th was Elizabeth. This Elizabeth wedded one John Helsel. I would estimate this event occurred around 1800." This John was related in some way to a Tobias Helsel. Other names mentioned in the letter : Kelley Imig, Harold Swoverland, Ella Berry. In addition, I have some notes that say Phillip Hoffman was a weaver from Maryland who moved to Pennsylvania to either Bedford or Somerset county where Helsels were living. I will respond further if I find anything more. Hope this was helpful. Let me know. Thanks, Karen
