Help Please,Trying To Make Connection----Moses Helms(Black)

This is the information I have so far:I came across an 1870
Census for Anderson Co.,Tx that has Moses Helms,my GGGGrand-
father born in SC.in 1824.Then migrating to Al.,where he met
and married his Wife,Leah One of their sons,Marion is my GG-
Grandfather,being born in Al. in abt 1853.He married Eliza
Morgan.Somewhere between their migration from Al. to Tx,the
surname changed from Helms to Baston,which is my last name.
One of Marion's sons,John Henri,is my GGrandfather,who mar-
ried Lettie Baston(don't know her maiden name.)one of their
sons,MarionII,is my Grandfather,who later married Alvada
Williams,who was mother of my Father,Augustine Baston.What
I'm having problems with is trying to connect which branch
of the Helms family that's associated with my people.If any-
one has information on where I should look would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks
