Bio of George C. Bailey,
"Born at Baptist Valley, Tazewell County, May 24, 1845, is a son of Hugh S. Bailey and MARGARET HELMS, who were married at Prestonburg, Kentucky, on October 1 1833. Husgh S. Bailey, son of Hugh Bailey, was born in Lancaster County VA, Jan 23, 1804, and is now over eighty-five years of age. He heard the guns of the war of 1812, and was brought to Tazewell County from Lancaster County in 1814. HIs wife (Margaret Helms) was a daughter of JACOB HELMS, OF BOTETOURT,County VA, tanner and saddler, who removed to Kentucky, thence, ABOUT 1841 TO TEXAS, IN WHICH STATE HE DIED."
I don't know if this is the father of the Jacob you are looking for.. but might be something you want to check into. I know of another family from this area of VA that ended up in Colin Co. TX.. so just might be who you are looking for.
