If you don't already have this info, I am posting it here.My email address is:[email protected]
I don't desc. from this line, but Arlon Helms of Nixon Chapel, AL is a desc. and we have been trying to connect pwn families who were both in Nixon Chapel, altho mine moved there after 1900.Arlon has done most of this research. There is a reunion in Nixon Chapel every year, but I don't have the dates right now.
Descendants of John Helms
Generation No. 1
1.JOHN1 HELMS was born 1813 in NC, and died April 22, 1865 in Near Royal, Blount Co., AL.He married (1) ELIZABETH CONNER August 17, 1842 in Upson Co., GA.She died Unknown. He married (2) MARY ELIZABETH BROWN January 21, 1845 in Upson Co., GA.She was born 1822 in SC or GA, and died 1871 in Blount Co., AL.
Notes for JOHN HELMS:
In the Georgia Pioneers, Vol. 5, Upson County, GAEarly Marriage Records:
John Hellums and Mary Elizabeth Brown Jan. 21, 1845
John Hellems and Elizabeth Conners Aug. 17, 1842
I am not sure that the John Hellems is actually this John, but I haven't found another John in Upson Co., GA
Also:
Boyles Hellems and Nancy Head Apr. 28, 1839 (There is a question mark after this seeming to indicate that the date is not clear-writing or damage to the page??)
According to Arlon Helms research, Bailus was born in SC in 1820.Bailus was in Blount Co. with John, but went back to GA about 1860. Undoubtedly, there were other siblings, but I have found no record of them.
