Dear Ernest - my branch of the family came over before and landed with the "Salzburgers" in Georgia. They used the Latin form of the name when the came to America. The family came from an area SW of Ulm in Germany and a large museum there in Geislingen can trace our family back to the 800s. There are three Helfenstein castles, one of which is in pretty good shape.
