We seem to share Georg,Christian Helbling and Margarete Bisch, from Schönau as common ancestors; you are concerned by their son Anton H., when I am descending from their other son Christian-Thaddeus (22/10/1807-13/05/1884), father of Christian(1838-1926), father of Anna H. Niederberger(1882-1954), mother of Robert Niederberger(1913-1986) who was my father.
It was a huge surprise to read that Anton was an active member of the Methodist Church, as the Helblings from Schönau were all strict roman catholics.
The family memory reported the Helblings of Evansville and I heard about the iron works and founderies which concerned several generations of Helbling related emigrants from Schönau. We kept in touch with Magdalene Helbling-Fischer(1877-1959),daughter of Christian H.; She emigrated 1894, married Jacob Fischer(1857-1917), from Schönau too and part-owner of a foundery in Evansville. They lived 317 Wabasch ave, close to St Bonifacius church.I payed severalvisits to their daughter Helen Fischer-Mc Donald(1909-1988).
The parents of Georg Christian H. were David H. mentionned 1776 in Schönau as "Waffenschmied" from Helvetia and Anna Maria Pflüger from "Constanz". David's father may be Josef H. "Waffenschmied" ex Helvetia, mentionned 1722 in Schönau.
