Would be happy to share information.Recently I had done a review of the Heitzes in Schuyler County, Illinois, as I was trying to figure out the connection between the Barbara Heitz and Samuel Heitz families.
Here's what I know-- Barbara Heitz (daughter of Eva and Gottlieb Heitz) is the sister of my great-great grandfather, Theobald Heitz.
Barbara married a Samuel Heitz--we have always wondered what the connection of the two Heitz families might be.Barbara was born in 1840 in Germany. The Gottlieb Heitz family emigrated around 1847 and settled in Selby Twp, Bureau County, Illinois. My ancestor was the youngest child and only boy and was born on the family homestead in Bureau County. From the information I have Samuel was born in Germany in 1830.They were married in 1858 at St John's Church on the Hill near Princeton, IL
Barbara and Samuel appear on the 1860 census in Rushville, Schuyler County, Illinois.By 1870, they are in DePue, Bureau County, Illinois, which is where they live out their lives.Their daughter, Bertha Charlotte, is on the 1880 census in Rushville, Schuyler County, Illinois living with her uncle, Ernest Heitz. Bertha would marry Gardner Kittell in about 1884 and everntually move to Washington State.
I found Ernest Heitz on the 1860 and 1870 census in Rushville, Schuyler County, IL, living with his mother, Margaret.I am reasonably sure that Samuel Heitz (b 1830) and Ernest Heitz (b. c 1843) are brothers and their mother was Margaret (b. c 1805)There are a number of other Heitz families in Rushville censuses over the years, that I haven't been able to connect to Samuel Heitz, including Christian, Andrew, Barnhart, John.
Would love it if you could help connect the dots on how the Barbara Heitz and Samuel Heitz families might be connected.
