Hi Joan,
I also am looking for a Christain Heitz. He was born abt 1831 in Baden, Germany. Found him in the 1860 & 1870 census in Rushville, Schuyler Co., Illinois. Also found him in the LDS Family search in 1880, said he was 49, single and living with 2 sisters. I am looking for my daughter n law who is researching her family. Hers married a Helen Portwood, also on some census as Ellen. He came to the states from Germany in abt. 1866. Is this yours? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
