It's been a while since my last post, but I have just recently made some progress unraveling this particular ball of 'yarn' and thought a post about it might be useful to some others or generate further help for me....

William Posey HICE b. aft 1850 was my focus, I had thought he might be a member of Harrison and Priscilla's family...and he may still be related to them, but not one of their children. I think I may have actually found that long lost HICE that is my GGGrandfather!

William Posey Hice's mother IS the Nancy McElroy (McKleroy) Hice Williamson with whom he is shown in the 1860 Fannin Co. GA census. Her father, is the John McElroy shown living in that household in 1860 also.

Paulding Co. GA has a record of marriage in Sept 1850 that seems to be for a Nancy Mckleroy and George H.(or W.)Hise.

Then I found a young couple, GEORGE W. and NANCY HEISS shown in the Paulding county Nov.1850 census record as living next door to John Mckleroy and his family, his wife also named Nancy...

George W. or H. Heiss (as it is spelled on the census form) gave his age as 19, making him b. abt 1831, he lists his place of birth as NC. As Nancy remarried in 1855, and my GGrandfather, William Posey Hice often listed his b. date as 1852, George must have died abt 1852-4. Whether he used both spellings of the name, or Nancy changed it to HICE, I cannot yet say....so now I'm searching for more information on:

George W. or H. Heiss/Hice/Hise b. 1831 in NC.

For his only child to bear the name 'Posey', may indicate his ties to some of the other Hise,Hice,Heiss's lines.

Any clues will be greatly appreciated!!
-Fran
