Hi i'm from Michigan and all my dads ancestors live in the U.P. around Iron Wood, Bessemer, and Norway and were all Finnish. i am looking for any info on a Johanna Purola, who married Antti Kristian (Ita)Niemi. i have her parents names as Mr. Purola and Heinonen. they lived in Remsmaki. Mr. Purola came from Hiidenmiemi, and his wife, a Heinonen, came from Ylilesti. she had a brother Erkki, and 5 sisters. i got all that from a story someone wrote down from a relative at a family reunion in 1970. i don't have any info on them otherwise. Any help would be greatly appreciated because i am only 16 and don't have any hope of ever getting to Finland to look :(
does anyone sing the song: have you seen my deer by the meadow with the big antlers and the bell that goes tinkle tinkle. in Finnish its like Oko nanu maden bukkia maden bukkia maden bukkia, .... yah gilii, gilii ...ranalaa. i slaughtered the spelling. my grandma sings it i think its cool!
