Hello Niki I have recently read with interest, the correspondence concerning Elizabeth Heggie. I have some information which might offer a few clues. 1. Elizabeth’s child Cecelia, (b)1821, about whom Patricia Robertson wrote, had a middle name - Kinloch. Probably named after some grandparent. 2. In 1797, a James had a daughter named Euphemia Tod Heggie, in Creich. Other children were named as the offspring of James H. and Margaret Anderson. David (b) 1798; James (b) 1800; John Lennox (b) 1802; Betty (b) 1804. Must be the same family. Another Euphemia Tod Heggie was born in 1827, in Newburgh to an Edward H. and Elizabeth Gardner. As the mothers seem not to be related, possibly there is a connection in the male line. 3. James is not the son of James the Provost of Kirkcaldy. That James died childless and his extensive property was inherited by his uncle. A fascinating story but a red herring in your quest. I hope there is something helpful in there, for you. As you are the one familiar with the names involved, I recommend you visit my site at www.normandheggie.com and you may be lucky enough to spot something else. Regards, H.
