Frans Alfred HAGG, b. abt 1877, Vaasa, Finland
I would like to find and share more information about Frans Alfred Adolph HAGG, born 20 May, 1875 or 1877 in Korsholm, Vaasa, Finland.It is believed his parents were Johan Wilhelm HAGG and Maria Louisa LOWINGER(Mother or Grandmother?). It is also believed that he had two sisters, Maria Irene HAGG and Elina HAGG. Alfred said his LOWINGER ancestors were part of the royal family, Hohenzollern, of Prussia.It is from there that it became a family custom to give boy babies many names after Prussian Generals and the girl babies many names as well.
Alfred left Finland about the age of 13 working as a cabin boy aboard the yacht of a family friend.It is not known if he ever returned.He remained at sea for many years before discovering the American West at which time he took the surname of JOHNSON.His stories included running wild horses up from Mexico and riding with Teddy Roosevelt.In later years his vocation was "Powder Monkey" in the mining industry.
Alfred married Hilda Irene STEGAR (B. 30 June, 1895, Vaasa, Finland) in June, 1914 in Goldfield, Esmeralda Coundy, Nevada, USA. They followed the mining industry and finally settled in Big Lake, Skagit County, Washington, USA about 1920.Their children were:Thelma Celeste Letia Hilda Johnson, b. 1915; Frans Chester Eugene Napoleon Johnson, b. 1917; Carl Gilbert Ludvig Clifton Johnson, b. 1922.Alfred died 1958 and Hilda died in 1984.
