Hello Anders!!

I have found the following meanings. You mentioned a broken sword, I have never seen a sword as a symbol to represent our family name. Do u mean the 3 crescents??

I have found a few different meanings of the symbols in our coat of arms.

The colours: Gold = Generosity
Green = Hope, Loyalty in love
Red = Warrior, Martyrs, Military Strength
Blue = Strength and Loyalty

The design and shape of our shield is known as the FESS symbol and the 3 stripes inside it stand for the Military Belt which means Honour.

The lion symbolizes Great Warrior or Chief.

The crescents represent Hope of Glory. I once was told that they also represent the Crusades.

The Helmet means we have a Wise Defence.
